This past Sunday, Jessica and I went to see Ali Wong at the Ryman Auditorium.
Jessica and I have long loved the Ryman.
The Ryman is one of the best and most well loved music venues in the world. It's also the kind of venue that musicians love to play, one that they look forward to playing at. That’s because of its history. Because Johnny Cash played the Ryman. And Tammy Wynette did too. And so many others. You've heard the expression "if these walls could talk," well, when I'm at the Ryman, I often think "if these walls could sing..."
I've seen so many shows at the Ryman auditorium. A few of the artists I've watched include, Annie Lennox, Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones, The Indigo Girls, Dolly Parton, Feist, The Civil Wars, Imogen Heap, and of course, Amy Grant. I've watched Amy play this room no less than 15 times over the last 25 years.
But this historical room is also a place where people come to talk, tell stories... I've seen David Sedaris here. And Trevor Noah. Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. And now, Ali Wong.
